Transport incidents
Road and rail journeys can be impacted for a number of reasons, including:
- road accidents
- extreme weather
- fuel spillage
- strike action
Delays could last for several hours.
Airport emergencies (unscheduled landings) could also create significant delays to passengers.
What can you do
Check local media before you travel - TV, radio, internet, etc. Where possible, observe advice on travel during extreme weather, such as flooding or wintry conditions.
Carry an emergency kit in your car with the following basic items:
- first aid kit
- blanket
- torch
- bottled water
- food
